Quick Catch Up

I am a bit behind on race reports so here is a quick recap of two Speedway races in one night and a Caleb Pike.

Starting with Speedway #3 Bs this race had all the regular players. The race was pretty normal with nothing major happening until the last lap. When one racer went really hard and Jon Watkin followed. I found myself chasing them into the final corner where the racer that initiated the move ran out of steam and left Jon with a long way to the end. I was head down as hard as I could and gaining on him. I didn’t look back and past him before the line. Vinko had come to however, he was caught out and couldn’t make up the difference. Another Speed way win by a bike length or two.

coming into the final sprint with Jon fading and Vinko out of position

Well it was time to give A’s a try albeit with tired legs. A quick number switch and I was “Ready” for the next one. I surprised myself and was very much a part of the race and not just a passenger. I even got into a good 3 man breakaway that was eventually caught. It was going to come down to a spring and I positioned well going into the final lap. As the wheelers train finished with half a lap to go I hit the wrong button on my Di2 with a numb right hand and couldn’t hold the wheel. I recovered to finish 9th however I feel there was a chance for more. I will be only racing A’s at the final Speedway race so I will have a chance to give it everything.

Caleb Pike #2 this time on a weeknight meant there was no out of town racers. All the regular B players were in attendance as well as some new ones. The majority of the race was straight forward in the final lap Mitch who had not raced road this year tried to solo to the end I chased hard and stayed with him as we made a small gap. I knew I could out sprint him on the uphill finish and was happy to be in this position. I wasn’t however aware of the group behind and all of a sudden Kimberly came shooting by this scared me and I relinquished my place behind Mitch to catch her. She fading pretty quickly and I was left with a long way to the line. I gave it all I had left but it was not enough. Trevor had been patient and was able to easily come around me for a well deserved win.

A couple of bike lengths to remind me to be patient
